Deadlines Management Tool Design
As a landscape architect managing numerous projects, I often struggle to keep track of each schedule using my Outlook calendar. Therefore, I decided to create a project management platform based on my own experiences.
My goal is to develop a tool that simplifies the work of designers, enhances their efficiency, and ultimately makes their job easier. This tool will prioritize user-friendliness, ensuring it is intuitive, easy to navigate, and genuinely helpful in streamlining the design process.

BRIEF
Design a project deadline management tool for designers in industries that require coordination with different consultants to use in their daily workflows.
Primary Research
16 screener survey responses connected to find project collaboration and coordination interview candidate.
5 interviews conducted virtually/remotely through Zoom with audio recording.
All of them are architecture/landscape architecture professionals.
During the construction phase, designers often allocate over 40% of their time to coordinating with other consultants.
75% of design professionals who participated in the screener survey lack a specific tool to track or create project timelines.
50% of the participants do not use software to manage projects.
While the other 50% utilize over 12 different types of project management software.
Solution
Project deadline management is a vast matrix. I decided to focus on one specific feature: viewing and modifying event details within a specific project

Approach
In a first step wireframes were created to convey user flow to content blocks.

Design Decisions
To create a more visually soothing experience, the main color tone for the dashboard is green. High-contrast colors are chosen for the calendar icons to ensure the color-coding system stands out.
Design Evolvement
In the initial round of user testing, 0% of the participants were able to complete the tasks assigned to them.
The initial high-fidelity mockup has been revised based on feedback from the first round of usability testing.
Key Takeaway
100%
Following the redesign, all users participating in the second round of usability testing successfully completed the assigned tasks.
In the second round of usability tests, after users successfully completed the tasks, their feedback primarily focused on the overall scope of the project. They now perceive the product more as a calendar integrated with deadline planning, rather than a project timeline management application.
It's truly inspiring to realize that the design process is never-ending. Even after solving existing problems, users will always desire additional features to align the product more closely with their needs. The key is to continuously reassess what can be improved and to work on enhancements regularly.
